Chapter 3 “The Federation”
Zortixia had been the leader of the Federation. It had built itself up from the ground after a series of devastating nuclear attacks during The Great Nuclear Battle. Only a fraction of its population survived and they voted to create a peaceful and pacifist society. It was the first planet in The Federation to ban nuclear and biological warfare. Other planets in the galaxy soon followed suit and banded together to form The Federation.
The Federation prospered for many decades with its cornerstone being peaceful co-operation and indeed that lasted for many years. Zortixia developed into one of the most prosperous members of The Federation. Yes it was a superpower in The Federation but it was peaceful. Its technology was superior to other planetary members of The Federation but its superiority was never a threat. Threats were not tolerated in The Federation.
The Federation prospered for many decades managing to avoid war and destruction and maintained high spirits of optimism at least until such time as the Opposite Party was formed. The Opposite Party conveniently ignored the Great Nuclear Battle and even worse it manufactured glorification of war and aggression much to the consternation of the Creatureists. Large masses were whipped into a militaristic frenzy. It was to be a glorious future of conquest.
The Opposite was never outlawed so it began to hold mass rallies with a slogan “Make Zortixia the Greatest Again”. The leaders of The Federation believed that the attraction to the Opposite Party was temporary and that logic would soon return to the populations of The Federation.
Initially the discontents were checked by centuries of many years of peaceful traditions and behaviour but with the interference of the Opposite Party this was soon changed. However prestigious and honoured the leader of Zortixia Willie Montenez was he lacked the political ability to detect foul play. It was only when evidence of clandestine arms shipments was detected flowing into Zortixia that Montenez was convinced of the seriousness and danger of the Opposite Party but by that time it was too late and Willie Montenez was placed under house arrest for treason to the people. News of this arrest sparked anti Opposite Party riots but they were was crushed with ease by the blackbooters of the Opposite Party. Zortixia was quickly under the thumb by the Zortixian leader of the Opposite Party by the name of Jiber.
