2026 GREEK TRAVEL ADVENTURE: Short Attention Span Version:Good-Bye Greece: Unpleasant Arriving and Unpleasant Leaving!

Woke up and packed up for the last time on this vacation. Becoming weary of this pack and unpack. I see the theoretical attraction to cruising. No incessant packing and unpacking. Perhaps the sole advantage to travelling in seven story floating hotels except of course for the incessant buffets! Bring on obesity! I hear the obese Americans are breaking furniture on the Queen Mary and as obesity increases so does furniture damage. Bring on the Wegovy!

Wheeled the luggage across the street and checked in with Air Canada for the flight back to Toronto. Walked across the road back to Sofitel Airport Hotel and dearest F had a coffee in the room.

Then back across the street to the airport to face chaotic and disorganized passport control for passengers leaving Greece to return to Canada. Two hours in a huge line. Passport control atrocities both arriving and departing Greece.

Unpleasant and dingy in the departure area waiting to board our flight. Like a Greyhound bus terminal in Wichita.

The airplane was full. No more room on this bus aka sardine can. EEEKS the lady beside me travelling with her husband said they were attacked by bedbugs at B4B Hotel in Athens. Little buggers.

I can’t say I enjoyed the emergency exit seat I had but at least my legs were not jammed up in the seat in front of me.

My East Asian Vegetarian meal was as gross at it was on the flight over. A chunk of eggplant and soggy red pepper in some unidentifiable sauce smeared over a ball of glutinous rice.

Home after a close to an 11-hour flight and unlike Greece through Customs and Immigration like a flash of lightning. Managed to last at home from from18:00-23:00 in a discombobulated state. And yes our West Highland Terrier had not forgotten us!

In retrospect a gruelling tour more than a vacation but we did see a heck of a lot. It’s time for a vacation!

The number one highlight DELPHI. The number one disappointment Meteora.

Let’s finish off next with a report card on the trip!
