RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: What’s My Reflection on Looking Glass?

What is my reflection on Niagara’s Rosewood’s 2021 Looking Glass? A blend of 68% Cabernet Franc, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. The wines rested in neutral French oak for 15 months prior to bottling. Aroma: Black cherry, raspberry, red currant and milk chocolate. Palate: Strict, stern and dry. Moderate tannins. Razor thin fruit.Continue reading “RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: What’s My Reflection on Looking Glass?”

RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: Leaning Post Cuvée Winona

There are glitzy and glorious wineries in Niagara, Ontario looking more akin to castles and grand estates than a down-home winery where wine is the only show in town and no $36 truffle pizza is available. Leaning Post is one of those down-home wineries where great wine is about the only game going on. WeContinue reading “RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: Leaning Post Cuvée Winona”

RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: An Original, Bold and Audacious Wine? Megalomaniac To Be Frank Cabernet Franc

Original, bold and audacious Cabernet Franc so says the label? Can’t say I have had one of those wines with all three adjectives operating simultaneously so let’s put it down to marketing to catch the consumer with thrilling adjectives. A nifty name too for a Cabernet Franc wine, “To Be Frank”. Are we in Australia?Continue reading “RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: An Original, Bold and Audacious Wine? RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: Hare Cabernet Merlot from Niagara Ontario: This Hare Got Lost on the Racetrack and Was Beaten by the Snail

For my ex-Canada readers, the Niagara wine region is a couple of hours drive from Toronto God and traffic willing. RKS 2025 CANADIAN Wine: Two Bees 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon: Not Quite the Little Engine That Could

Aroma: Robust blueberry, blackberry, black cherry with raging black currant accompanied by oak influences that are not bashful. Palate: Gushes of black currant and lesser notes of blueberry buzzing about in the background but they just can’t land in swarm fashion on the palate. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Aroma: Dense notes of blueberry, blackberry, cassis and a bit of milk chocolate. Palate: Full bodied jammed with black fruit. Tannic.
