RKS French Wines: Is There an Affordable High-Quality Pinot Noir in Burgundy?

Sure, there are affordable high-quality Pinot Noirs in Burgundy. You just require some effort to find those which are imported into your jurisdiction. And don’t expect to pay $16.95. More like in the high twenties close to the low thirties (CDN).

We have here Bourgogne Pinot Noir Nuiton-Beaunoy (2024)

Aroma: Gentle smoke, ripe raspberry and red cherry with a micron of milk chocolate. Some date and ripe strawberry. Is it time to be excited?

Palate: A long high strung but not weak black cherry and red currant finish. A lack of an immediate fruit as it appears to be floating above the wine needing a year or two to fall back into the immediate palate. Marked improvement noticeable in 2028 but do not hold longer than 2030. Fine tannins. Gentle acids on the top palate.

Food Match: Grilled Argentinian Tenderloin or a creamed pasta sauce not involving any fish other than smoked salmon.

Music Match: Joni Mitchell (jazz).

Price: $25 CDN.

RKS French Wines Rating: 91/100 (Tried 3November2026).
